Andrea Arroyo is an award-winning artist working in a wide range of media, including painting, artists' books, mixed media, digital art, public art, and site-specific installation.
Her work is exhibited and collected internationally; public collections include The Library of Congress, The National Museum of Mexican Art, The Richmond Museum, The Smithsonian Institute, and The New York Public Library.
Honors include New York Women's Foundation Honoree, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships, NYC Artist Corps, Global Citizen Award Artist, Clinton Global Initiative, 21 Leader for the 21st Century, Outstanding Woman of New York, The United Nations R Lurie Award,. Woman of the Week, Women in the World Foundation, Groundbreaking Latina in the Arts, and Outstanding Latina of the Year.
She has received multiple grants from the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, the Puffin Foundation, the Harlem Arts Alliance, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
Public art projects include permanent indoor and outdoor artwork for private, institutional, and corporate spaces.
Her artwork has been published extensively, including on the cover of The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The International Herald Tribune, and has been the subject of over two hundred features in the international media.
Ms. Arroyo is also a curator, a cultural advocate, and a sought-after speaker and lecturer.

“Goddesses at the Palace”
A site-specific installation transforming the Grand Foyer of the historic United Palace.

"Goddesses at the Palace" is inspired by real and imagined women, past, present and future. With this project, the artist celebrates the beauty, power and resilience of women, and continues to explore large-scale drawing in the three-dimensional realm, transforming traditional and non-traditional spaces to invite reflection about the role of art in society. About the United Palace: "Built in 1930 as one of Loew’s “Wonder Theatres,” the United Palace was one of the region’s premier vaudeville and movie houses. Designed by noted architect Thomas Lamb (Cort Theatre, Ziegfeld Theatre) with interiors by decorative specialist Harold Rambusch (Waldorf Astoria, Radio City Music Hall), it was described by The NY Times as “Byzantine Romanesque-Indo-Hindu-Sino-Moorish-Persian-Eclectic-Rococo Deco” and a “kitchen sink masterpiece.”
"Goddesses at the Palace" is supported by the Creatives Rebuild New York Artist Employment Program.

Art as Solidarity is an ongoing series of artworks created in response to issues that touch us everyday, like immigration, civil and gender rights, displacement, gun violence, international conflicts and the environmental crisis. The works reflect universal values of love, justice, equality and peace, and aim to build bridges across borders, languages and cultures.
These images bear witness to daily injustices and political upheavals. While they document our current turbulent times, they also celebrate the beauty and resilience of the most vulnerable communities. These images inspire reflection, empower individuals, and build communities to create change, by raising their voices in empathy, in solidarity and in love.
Arroyo says “Art can change the world and beauty is revolutionary.”

Selections from the "Solidarity" series have been recognized with various awards, including First Prize, United Nations Lurie Award; Political Satire Award Humor Biennial Cuba; and awards from Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, Hispanic Federation, Google the Miranda Family Fund., Puffin Foundation, Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
